The east coast, the west coast and everywhere in between: The cameras of Hobie® Outdoor Adventures roamed far and wide for season 5 of the TV show.

“Each year the show gets more fun and we get better at kayak fishing. It’s always a welcoming challenge flying or driving in from faraway to tackle a new place that you’ve never fished before,” says Morgan Promnitz, one of the show’s mainstays.

Over the years the team has encountered some setbacks. The weather’s rough, the fish don’t bite. The team always overcomes and finds a way to have fun.

“Some of my favorite moments from this season were catching several new species of fish including bonefish and blackfin tuna, learning about Hobie’s First Cast program, finally filming a show in my home waters, and an incredible trip to Changshu, China for the Hobie Fishing Worlds,” Promnitz adds.

Out of the 11 episodes of season 5, Promnitz has one particular favorite: Best Catches. For the season finale, the crew went back in time and identified the most exciting catches caught on film over the show’s five-year history. He’s proud of the many huge homeguard yellowtail he and fellow factory team member Kevin Nakada caught in La Jolla. Spoiler: As big as they are, they don’t add up to #1. For that, you’ll have to watch.
