The Pro Women got into the action and the Pro Men battled through quarter final and semi final heats during day two of the Pacific Paddle Games, the year’s biggest stand up paddleboard competition. Here’s a look at how Team Hobie® performed.
April Zilg powered to an impressive third place finish in her Pro Women's Technical semi final heat. She felt good about it. "I came in right behind Candace Appleby and Shae Foudy, the two people expected to win the whole thing," she said.
A terrific start propelled 14-year-old Lexi Alston to a strong fourth place finish in her Pro Women's Technical semi final heat. She and her teammate April will compete in the Pro Women's Technical final Sunday afternoon. "It was a lot of waiting around. Not a lot of waves but a fun grind," she said.
Hobie rider Martin Letourneur of France out-sprinted traffic to finish fourth in his quarter final heat, qualifying for the semi finals.
Martin battled both the waves and his competitors during his semi final, coming up just a little short of qualifying for the final.
Bullet Obra fought his way back from a crushing surf scrum at the hammer buoy during his quarter final heat, but feel just short of qualifying for the semis.
Zeke Rose competed hard during his Youth race.
Zeke's brother Keaton Rose tore it up in the Youth 13-14 Boy's Final.
