Hobie Stand Up team rider Martin Letourneur has been busy in the waves. He sent us a series of cool action photos and these notes:

I grew up in the City of Saint-Malo in Brittany, in the northwest of France. I started surfing at 10 but the swell has never been really consistent there and I’ve had to learn to surf small waves. If you wait for at least 2-3 foot waves to surf, you won’t surf more than 10 times per year in Saint-Malo. Haha!

Fortunately for me, I spent the last two years studying in the city of Brest where the surf is a lot more consistent. I have finally been able to train in real conditions and get ready to compete on the French Tour of SUPsurfing.

This was my first year on the French SUPsurfing circuit which consists of several regional contests, three national stops and one big championship. I’ve been able to start the year winning a regional event, then I made two finals on the national stops last summer and ended the year taking the 7th spot at the French Championships.

SUPsurfing is a discipline that I love as much as regular surfing or SUP racing. The board that I use the most is my 7’5 × 25’5” Colin Pro (Raw). It allows me to generate a lot of speed and go for fins-free maneuvers even in tiny conditions.
