There are plenty of smallmouth along nine miles of Delaware River bottom, as Hobie Fishing Team members Charles Daugherty and Charles Parker Breon knew well. Along with Hobie sales rep Marc Weiss, they floated from eastern Pennsylvania to Milford, New Jersey late last summer.
“Having the MirageDrive is a huge advantage while fishing the Delaware. Being able to pedal into the current allows you to fish a specific area while staying in the same location and on the fish. You don’t have to fight the current. Slow, steady pedal motion keeps you fishing, in place and hands free,” Charles says.
The catch case: Charles and friends tantalized their ‘smalljaws’ using 3- and 4-inch Gary Yamamoto Senkos in cinnamon brown rigged on 2/0 Gamakatsu Offset Hooks and 3-inch Jackall Cover Craws in pumpkin pepper rigged on a jighead.
